Stories are one of my favorite things. I love telling stories. I love making them up for my babies. I love reading them - in scripture, in books, on blogs, in magazines. I love meeting new people because you get to hear all new stories.
I would love you to share your story on my blog!
In particular, I’d like to invite you to be part of my "out-of-the-ordinary" series. I've observed that novelty causes us to notice, that new encounters and new situations help us to see our world and ourselves with new eyes. Is there a time when this happened for you?
Tell us a story about when you experienced something out-of-the-ordinary, something new or scary or different or awesome. Maybe it's a season you're still living and learning in. Maybe it's a moment that feels long forgotten. In any case, I'd love to hear how that bit of extra-ordinary-ness has changed or shaped who you are.
Can you think of a story like that you have to share? And would you be willing to share it? If so, please read below for my guest story-sharing guidelines.
Submissions should be between 400-800 words.
Your tone should strive to be conversational, authentic and warm. Tell me a story you would tell me over coffee. Or wine. Or while hiking up a mountain. Whatever helps you tell a story that's truly and uniquely yours.
I reserve the right to edit submissions to enhance clarity and readability without taking away from your voice or intended meaning. I would prefer original content, but if you would like to submit a favorite that fits the out-of-the-ordinary theme, I will review and consider it. Please feel free to link a small part on your blog the day it goes live.
Please also include the following with your submission:
• A short (40-50 word) bio to introduce yourself
• All relevant links to your blog, Twitter, etc.
• A picture of yourself
Please send your submission in the body of an email to lindsey (dot) smallwood (at) gmail (dot) com with “Guest Post” in the subject line. Please do not send your submission as an attachment.
Once I receive your story, I will contact you within 2 weeks and let you know if I plan to share your piece. I look forward to reading your stories!
(P.S.: I got my guest post guidance from a writer I really admire. Stop by and check out Bronwyn. She likes guests too.)
